Media in Advocacy – Impressions from a Participant

As the professional manager of the Health Visitor Sector of the Autonomous Regional Trade Union I took part in a four-day course titled “Media in Advocacy”.

In order to be effective with our advocacy work it is essential that we use media consciously. The organizers of the course provided us with the necessary knowledge to learn how to do this. We got to know all the ins and outs of a press conference and a press release, and got an insight into communication strategy and news making.  We also got to know what makes an organization’s Facebook profile or website credible, what makes news in the news, and how we can achieve that these reach our target audience. I feel it's especially useful that I could discover the likeable and usable side of media.

You need all of these for an effective, well-communicated and strong trade union.

Great atmosphere and high-quality course, great people.  It was a pleasure to be there.
